Epi-Light is an indigenous start-up company based in Cork which develops advanced LED lighting systems for the Life Science, Pharmaceutical and Medical Device sectors.

Their LED-based products are engineered to meet the specific demands of Life Science markets. Products incorporate the latest semiconductor LED chip technologies and integrated optics with advanced electronic and thermal controls.

Epi-Light’s portfolio is available in a variety of wavelengths, from UV to IR including the visible spectrum, with the capability of being customised for specific applications.

Optical Module Design:

• CAPPA is working with Epi-Light through the Enterprise Ireland Innovation Voucher scheme.
  
• The work is supporting product development on an illumination unit which is currently designed for visible light and is being re-designed for UV applications.
  
• Through its expertise in optical characterisation and design CAPPA can support the experimental and simulation aspects of this project.

The partnership between Epi-Light and CAPPA has strengthened with the announcement in December 2009 of a joint research programme focused on developing Epi-Light's LED based technology platform for imaging applications. This project is jointly funded by Epi-Light and Enterprise Ireland under their Innovation Partnership scheme.
