The Centre for Advanced photonics and Process Analysis (CAPPA) recently attended the Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway programme launch which took place on Wednesday 2nd of May in the Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport. Dr Liam Lewis, Technology Gateway Manager and Dr Michael McAuliffe, a senior postdoctoral researcher represented CAPPA on the day. Minister of State for Training, Skills and Innovation, John Halligan TD, announced an investment of €26.75 million by Enterprise Ireland over the five year period 2018 to 2022 to support the technology gateway programme. On the day Mairead O’ Donnell from Polar IceTech spoke about their collaboration with CAPPA and the different funding options they were able to avail of, such as the Enterprise Ireland Innovation Voucher. Mairead spoke about the benefits to Polar IceTech of the research that CAPPA conducted and how they plan to continue to work with CAPPA going forward.

The Technology Gateway Network is run by Enterprise Ireland in partnership with Institutes of Technology. The network is made up of a network of 15 technology gateways which delivers solutions to Irish industries. The network is an open access point for industry to industry-relevant technology expertise.
About Irish Food Technology Cluster
On the day the new Irish Food Technology Gateway Cluster was also launched. This is a group of seven Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateways who operate within the food and beverage sector. The cluster provides a range of expertise for companies who are looking to access research and development in this sector. The cluster consists of APT, Design+, MET, MiCRA, Shannon ABC and CAPPA. CAPPA provides photonics solutions to companies within the food sector on scales from short-term consultancy to multi-year collaborative projects. Projects can involve examination of specific food products or investigating food capabilities to improve their efficiency. CAPPA has worked with a wide variety of companies in the food, beverage and dairy industries.
