Chinna Devarapu - CAPPA

Chinna Devarapu

Postdoctoral Researcher

Chinna Devarapu completed his M.Sc. Physics from Banaras Hindu University and M. Tech in applied physics from Indian Institute of Technology from IIT Delhi. As part of his master’s thesis, he built a confocal microscope for direct laser lithography set-up at Technical University Berlin. Later he moved on to pursue a Ph.D. in Physics at University of Exeter in the UK. During his Ph.D., he investigated SiC photonic crystals and metamaterials to achieve near-perfect absorption in the infrared regime. Soon after his Ph.D., Chinna joined as a research fellow at nanophotonics group at University of St Andrews. While he was at St Andrews, he supervised students, received grants worth of £35000 and collaborated with industrial partners and world leading universities such as Stanford University. Currently, he is working at CAPPA with Dr. William Whelan-Curtin as a photonics researcher working on international projects DanCer and COSMICC and liaising with international partners and foundries such as Tyndall and LETI. His research interests include silicon photonics, photonic crystals and biomedical devices.
