Christian Corcoran - CAPPA

Christian Corcoran

PhD Student

Christian completed a BSc in Analytical Chemistry with Quality Assurance in MTU, Cork. He is currently a PhD student working on an on-chip gas sensor for the detection of respiratory and biological illnesses via the MetaSPECS (Metasurfaces and photonic integrated circuits for enhanced photothermal spectroscopy) project. His role revolves around the preconcentration of target analytes found in human breath, by the functionalization of polysilicon metasurfaces. Additionally, he is working with photothermal spectroscopy to realize and enhance the detection of these biomarkers found in human breath.

He is also a part-time casual lecturer facilitating labs for the Biological Chemistry module in the Department of Physical Sciences, MTU and a member of the Quantum Electronic Devices group at Tyndall National Institute, Cork.
