Giovanni Piscopo - CAPPA

Giovanni Piscopo

PhD Student

Giovanni completed his BSc in Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering in Polytechnic University of Bari and his MSc in Telecommunication Systems at the same University. He is currently a PhD student in both MTU and Polytechnic University of Bari working on an on-chip gas sensor for the detection of respiratory and biological illnesses via the MetaSPECS (Metasurfaces and photonic integrated circuits for enhanced photothermal spectroscopy) project under the supervision of Dr. William Whelan Curtin, Prof. Antonella D’Orazio, Prof. Giovanni Magno and Dr. Artem S. Vorobev. His role is the design of polysilicon and germanium high Q-factor metasurfaces for enhancing photothermal spectroscopy as well as for sensing applications. His interests include plasmonic devices for sensing and nano-particle trapping. Additionally, he has done part time lectures for Bachelor’s students on circuit theory and microwave networks at Polytechnic University of Bari.
