Tomasz Piwonski received Ph.D. degree in Physics (Thermal properties of semiconductor lasers) from the Institute of Electron Technology, Warsaw, in 2005. In the same year he moved to Ireland to work as a post-doctoral researcher at Tyndall Institute in the group of Dr Guillaume Huyet. He is currently a Staff Researcher in CAPPA@Tyndall, Cork. His present activities include studies on the dynamical properties of InAs based quantum-dot lasers and amplifiers as well as investigating other material systems such as dilute nitride and antimonide based structures. He is experienced in the use of various advanced experimental techniques such as ultra-fast differential spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and time-resolved photoluminescence.
