Tomasz Piwonski obtained a Doctorate in technical science from the Institute of Electron Technology (IET), Warsaw, Poland. Currently he works as a Staff Researcher in CAPPA@Tyndall. His present activities include studies on semiconductor swept-source lasers for Optical Coherence Tomography applications (SFI/CDA/2016 grant). He was also involved in studies on the dynamical properties of III-V lasers and amplifiers as well as investigating other material systems such as antimonide based structures. He is experienced in the use of various advanced experimental techniques such as ultra-fast differential spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and time-resolved photoluminescence. He is also experienced in fabrication of III-V devices. He has published 31 peer-reviewed articles in international journals.
